Jane The Queen
Jane The Queen
ORIGIN - Bogawantalawa, Sri Lanka - Calabria, Italy - Provence, France - Ashanti, Ghana
This variation on the classic Earl Grey Tea was named in honour of the Lady Jane Grey, who was a reluctant Queen of England in the 16th Century. Her reign came to an end after just nine days when her cousin Mary ascended the throne. Sadly, she was then convicted of high treason and imprisoned in the Tower of London, before eventually being executed a year later. She remains the only English monarch in the past 500 years of whom no proven contemporary portrait survives.
We recommend pairing it with a freshly baked muffin and some good old-fashioned gossip.
A note on taste
A close relative of Earl Grey, the Queen’s bouquet is further brightened by citrus peel
and complemented by an underlying perfume of lavender to create an elegant floral
flavour.
